Been drawing and reading bunches lately. Being single you kinda realize how much time you waste watching crummy movies and doing plenty of sedated, pointless activity...when with someone who's not creatively active. But i dunno...this may offend some of you - but artists are fkn nuts. The best ones at least.

In the moment i'm pushing towards future tattoo designs. I'd really like to pull off some nice pinup tattoos... but it's very difficult to find a form that i think would be worth tattooing. Tattoos have a completely different set of rules compared to normal illustration. I have tons of respect for guys like Capo and Craig Driscoll (look em up!) who do very consistent and beautiful pinup style works. Although it leans more on the cartooned side of things...perhaps that's the most effective approach to portraying a female figure...? =/ i dunno - i'm stumped

It's overall surprising when you run a google search for pin up tattoo - there aren't really too many good ones out there. Best I've seen was a Gil Elvgren piece Chris Garver did. The Comic style of guys like J Scott Campbell and Ross Campbell might very well be translatable.

On the reading side of things - my studies are filtering more and more into Eastern traditions and philosophy. I've been practicing yoga and meditation lately, seems to be of help. Other than that... still pushing on the invisible walls that hold my ability back. Frustrating but i will endure through it. One thing i have noticed - i have a tendancy to be all A.D.H.D. like in spreadin myself over all these things i'd like to complete. Anyone else find it hard to narrow down your artistic efforts to only a few mediums? anyways - check yall later! ~D

I must detract a previous statement i once said -
when i referred to DA not being the kind of place
for tattoo art...

o_0 this place is a GOLDMINE for tattoo artists -
if yall didn't already know. I hope people can see it
more as a form of appreciation. And there's some really incredible
skin art up on here - Run a search on it and see for yourself ^__^

Been busy, the shop got a little slow here till the weekend,
but I'm back to work on some web design work and a series of
paintings for a gallery in December. I'm 300 views away from
10k - so hopefully sometime soon i will hit yall with a handful of
neuworx. Till then, i have few posts, just plenty of sketchbook studies
and what not.

take care fellow deviants :meditate:

People lost and getting killed

Hey u

I updated some of my tattoo work. ((GO COMMENT!!!...PLS!))I feel weird posting it up here -since it's more of a different scene on here - that or maybe it;s time to change this fkn place!!! ^__^

I have many sketches I've grown fond of as well in the last year. So i will attempt to snap some photos and throw them up here( in scraps section). I'd definitely appreciate any and all feedback of course.

As far as day in the life of Dave...I moved from my previous studio to a full custom studio. I'm pretty happy with the move. ((the DA color scheme is so drab)) Along with that my girlfriend left me to live back at home and live a more simple life. (oh shit - here's where it gets all EMO) I suppose that's my lesson to be learned in attempting to date a younger girl. We're definitely at different points in life.

The Tarot advised me to grow from this, come to see who i am, concentrate on my art, but don't seclude myself off - get out more. Best advice i think i can take for the moment. I'll have to put my overly romantic heart to rest for some well needed healing.

Other than that, i haven't been all that involved here in DA, but it looks like some amazing art is coming out of here. Quite amazing//inspiring to see ^__^
Take care friends and foes ~Dee

Update: added some stuffs to my scrapbook area!

hello again...

to this journal of artistic venting/ ranting.

Show some art?! behh... i'm at this
moment where i have nothing but epic tattoo pieces in
the worx. I've been working my ass off - continuing plenty
of my studies - in other words drawing hawt womens many
times over and doodling very random/ odd/ things. Perhaps
i go about things wrong - then again, i have been enjoying
the progress in my art.

But yeah - i have a couple people asking me to send them some new art - but i pretty much have been overtaken/consumed with everything tattoo.

I can't complain - tattooing treats me well - and i keep learning.

Was it needed to have to of gone to collage??? Let alone somewhere rediculously priced as SCAD?! well - in the light of the great people i have met - i'd pay double that, maybe more....if i could. Now paying that, well that's another story >_< who the fuck has 100,000+ just sitting around to spend on an education???

Well - i guess i'm just one of the many who have helped bring down the economy. but in my defense - school should be covered via govt funding IMO... but thats just me and a few others who think such.

Ahhhhh.... but i sure am enjoying the cool arts out there! I picked up some pretty fresh x-men comics today - i like this work by Scottie Young and the run here by Bachalo. At heart i will always love x-men - i'll just turn away and ignore the fact that marvel is almost all business these days - as much as they put a front on that they care about quality - well - it's the bis of comics. I just don't think it's handled to it's best. but i'm a critic (if you dont already know) and there's just so much SHIT - pulp bullshit being spat out - like diarrhea; it's pure nasty, watered down shit - AND it comes out faster than i can ever keep up with, let alone even give the writing part of it a chance. Come on...like every major line now has all these mini off shoots, and interlinked sagas and blah blah blah

Hey - YOU guys over in the comics field - the mainstream, even with all their big holywood break throughs, are going to continue to seperate the comic book reading community to the few if they just continue in this fashion. Quesada, and a handful of other guys i have met and chatted with...They seem like very cool people with very cool lifes and involvement - still though - Fix your shit! I want to see comics do well - but for christ sake - it has to desearve it. At this moment = it's no wonder why kids would rather blow their money on video games, manga, or clothing instead. >_<

*sips RedBull*

ummm....yup
Thats about it for now...
i got to get back to designing
some pieces for the coming week.

Take care my friends ^__^
